The field descent and class groups of CM -fields

چکیده

We consider the following “field descent problem” for principal ideals I of number fields K. Assume that I is invariant under a Galois automorphism σ of K; decide wether there is a generator g of I with gσ = g, i.e., wether I can be generated by an element of Fix σ. We solve this problem for certain ideals by elementary methods. As a consequence, we are able to exhibit large explicit subgroups of class groups of CM -fields. This leads to some good lower bounds for the p-ranks of these class groups. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification 11R29 (primary), 11R20 (secondary)

Effect of Pulse-Modulated GSM-900 MHz Electromagnetic Field on the Electrochemotherapy Efficacy of 4T-1 Cells

Introduction: Electrochemotherapy (ECT) is a cancer treatment modality to permeabilize cell membrane facilitating the non-permeant molecules to gain access to the cytosol of cells. Nevertheless, environmental electromagnetic fields (EMFs) may disturb the efficiency of ECT. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of EMFs 900 MHz pulse-modulated by 217 Hz extremely low-frequency fields ...

A dosimetric study of deep skin electron therapy with overlapping stationary radiation fields – A case report

Background: For radiotherapy of total skin including sub-cutaneous tissue up to a depth of 3 cm on the entire left leg of an adult (Angiosarcoma skin), a complex treatment with multiple stationary electron fields was planned at our clinic. The details of dosimetry, clinical dose measurements are presented. Materials and Methods: The treatment planned with 6 overlapping 9 MeV electron fields in ...

Ideal Class Groups of Cyclotomic Number Fields I

Following Hasse’s example, various authors have been deriving divisibility properties of minus class numbers of cyclotomic fields by carefully examining the analytic class number formula. In this paper we will show how to generalize these results to CM-fields by using class field theory. Although we will only need some special cases, we have also decided to include a few results on Hasse’s unit...

Evaluation of AAA and XVMC Algorithms for Dose Calculation in Lung Equivalent Heterogeneity in Photon Fields: A Comparison of Calculated Results with Measurements

Aims: The aims of the present work are (1) to evaluate dose calculation accuracy of two commonly used algorithms for 15 MV small photon fields in a medium encompassing heterogeneity and (2) to compare them with measured results obtained from gafchromic film EBT2.Materials and Methods: Authors employed kailwood (Pinus Wallichiana) to mimic lung. Briefly, seven Kailwood plates, each measuring 25x...

Extensions of the Hestenes-Stiefel and Polak-Ribiere-Polyak conjugate gradient methods with sufficient descent property

Using search directions of a recent class of three--term conjugate gradient methods, modified versions of the Hestenes-Stiefel and Polak-Ribiere-Polyak methods are proposed which satisfy the sufficient descent condition. The methods are shown to be globally convergent when the line search fulfills the (strong) Wolfe conditions. Numerical experiments are done on a set of CUTEr unconstrained opti...
